When the sun dips behind the rolling hills of the Malkerns Valley this weekend, the gates of the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival will swing wide to welcome a celebration unlike any other. The festival theme—Back to the African Future— continues to invite each guest to journey through time: honouring the roots of our heritage even as we imagine tomorrow’s possibilities. From the moment you arrive, you’ll live by Luju’s guiding mantra: Eat. Sway. Love.
EVENT MCs

Anele “Siphalaphala saka Tshabalala” and Phila “PHD” Dlamini will be your trusted guides through every festival moment. Anele’s magnetic stage presence—equal parts cultural sage and stand-up wit—brings ancient Swazi storytelling into the modern spotlight. Phila, with his youthful pan-African swagger, effortlessly bridges generations, calling you to dance one moment and reflect the next. Together they will weave each performance, into a seamless experience.
FASHION

Fashion at Luju pulses at the intersection of tradition and innovation. Under the sub-theme “Threads of Time,” South African Afro-luxe visionary from South Africa, Thula Sindi will unveil runway moments that fuse centuries-old silhouettes with futuristic tailoring. Alongside him, Eswatini’s Ruff Cut and many other Eswatini’s boldest emerging designers will transform heritage prints into streetwise statements. Be sure to visit the Bead Bar, where master artists reimagine centuries-old beadwork into avant-garde wearable sculptures. This will be a beautiful showcase of craft work taking us back in time. Throughout the day, Luju’s official style scouts will be on the ground, seeking out the most inventive interpretations of “Threads of Time” for the Best Dressed Competition. Those spotted will compete and the male male and female winners will be taking taking home E3 000 cash prizes, complimentary tickets to Luju 2026, and a luxurious Cork & Co hamper.
CULINARY

No Luju journey is complete without a deep dive into its culinary landscape. Mrs M Decadent Pleasure sets the tone with soul-stirring Swazi classics bringing her famously crisp emabele (sorghum) cookies melting on your tongue and many other traditional twist delicacies. Chef Sive Bhembe builds on that foundation, plating traditional flavors in bold, artful arrangements, while Chef Phako elevates local ingredients into fine-dining masterpieces. Indigenous dishes will be well represented and prepared by South African indigenous Chef Onezwa Mbola. Live cooking demos offer a front-row seat to their craft, and an array of gourmet stalls—featuring plant-based fusion and local brews—ensures there’s something for every palate.
MUSIC AND PRFORMANCES

As night falls, the air will pulse with music that spans generations. Jazzworx & Thukuthela appear to deliver they anticipated rendition as they have become faves in the music space. Then, watch for spontaneous collaborations among local industry trailblazers—Sibu Manzini, QiBho Intellektual, Zinia, Bholoja, Khole, Diba Diba, and Velemseni—who will intertwine their distinct sounds in on-stage jam session. When you need to keep the dancefloor alive, DJs Ndumz, Rekorder, and M’bo among others , spin genre-bending sets—from Afro-house and deep-bass Amapiano to cutting-edge electronic grooves—that will carry you well past midnight.
