Mozambican designer Taibo Bacar has been shortlisted for the Best Southern African Fashion Designer of the Year prize in the third Abryanz Style & Fashion awards.
Taibo Bacar will compete with five other designers including Kidd Hunta and Intissar Mukadam from Zimbabwe, Get Johan Coetzee and Maxhosa Knitwear from South Africa and Chisoma Lombe from Zambia.
The event, which celebrates African fashion and art, is organised by Franchise Abryanz, which also includes other brands such as the Abryanz Collection stores and the Abryanz Charity Foundation.
Taking place in the Ugandan capital Kampala, the competition brings together stylists from countries in the eastern and western regions of Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda itself.
