It has been a beautiful journey for the young ladies who were competing for the number one spot to become SD’s Top Photogenic Model 2017.  When the journey began there were 12 contestants and every month there were elimination rounds where a contestant had to be eliminated.  Tiyandza Dlamini, who is the founder of Miss Photogenic, under  Synkronized events and casting management, revelled that the SD’s Top Photogenic Model 2017 journey was finally over. She said the votes that were made throughout the journey revealed the overall winner as last weekend the anticipation was high as there was only the top three left on the SD’s Top Photogenic Model 2017 social media page.

Mandisa Mamba, who won E15 000 is not just a photogenic beauty who is also known as a musician, but also lends herself to fashion design, radio presenting and writing. According to Mandisa, she joined the Miss photogenic competition with the motivation to invest the winning prize towards her Qleopatra business, a brand which consists of an online magazine and clothing line, created and fuelled by the desire to inspire young women in Swaziland. But, she has now redirected her plans, and says she sees it more profitable to invest towards her Business studies.

The newly-crowned photogenic model felt that it is imperative for her to have some sort of business background as she views herself as a business and brand. She has   future plans of tapping more into the business world. “Even if it’s just a short course in business, I am certain it will empower me,” She said. Mandisa first learned of the Miss photogenic competition through a newspaper article that was published earlier this year, calling all females to join.

“What caught my attention was how indiscriminative the criteria for joining; was  married, single, thick, thin, and with or with no children you are able to join and of course as a young single parent who is passionate about modelling I really saw this as an opportunity to follow my path,” added Mamba.  As she is the winner of SD’s Top Photogenic Model 2017 she has now been empowered to keep fighting for her dreams and what she believes in. She further said according to her the objective of the Miss Photogenic competition was to motivate women to accept themselves for who they are.  The winner said that she is grateful and blessed to have won and that even though she came in it to win it, the competition was pretty tough as all the other women who had joined showed determination and growth during the course of the competition.

“I am thankful to Tiyandza Dlamini for working so hard just so Swazi girls and women can have a platform to gain confidence and feel comfortable in their own skin,” said Mamba.
Through the course of the competition, the multitalented young lady also mentioned that one important lesson that stood out for her, was that modelling really isn’t about just showing up to take pictures. “It takes effort, a lot of research, body and mind strength and hours of practice before the actual shoot. Mind you its not about beauty but how you and the camera lens connect to make you photogenic.”
