Ghana has gone on to actualize the dream to grow Africa from within. Ghana produces their own fabrics through their textile industry and have decided that all schools wear the local fabric for their uniform. This move comes at a time when Africans are embracing and loving who they are and harnessing their resources to multiply and retain their economy.
Owning our identity this way is the first step in spearheading the acceptance campaign for Africans. One of the reasons why we have taken foreign identities and owned them as our own is because we had not created a culture to celebrate who we are and hence followed international trends and neglecting our own.
The textile industry in Ghana produces these fabrics and donates them freely to the students which makes it accessible to all. The altruistic exercise fosters an unmatched unison which can potentially spill over to other sectors. We hail Ghana for pioneering this much necessary change.
