Zambia Fashion Week has been run by Karen Nakawala since 2009 and has managed to create a platform for both Zambian and regional designers to showcase their work, but equally, rekindle what was once a thriving textile industry. Its main vision is to contribute to the growth of the Zambian Economy by building and creating sustainable development through creative ideas which lead to the creation of jobs.
With an endorsement by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the National Arts Council of Zambia, The Zambia Fashion Week has become a springboard for many youths in the creative sector and it is hoped that through this platform, fashion and designing can be a career of choice for the creative Zambian youth.
Since the organizing committee has started working on the Zambia Fashion Week 2016 edition, budding or established designers who wish to take part are encouraged to kindly inbox their email address stating their full names especially those who will be participating for the first time. Inboxes can be sent to The Zambia Fashion Week facebook page or inbox Karen Nakawala, Natasha Kabanda and Wezi Muyembe-Njovu so that they’re included on their mailing list. The official Zambia Fashion Week 2016 Dates are 13-15 October 2016.
