Bulawayo designer, Saneliso Mpofu of Sanah Designs, will next month showcase her designs at the RVK Africa Fashion Festival in Umodzi Park, Lilongwe in Malawi.

The fashion festival will run from November 25 to 26 and will feature top designers from Malawi, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Ghana, Namibia and Zimbabwe, among others.

Lorraine Mopiwa Kljajic of Lush Africa who are organising the festival, said Sanah Designs was among the 20 designers invited to showcase their work at the fashion show.

“Each designer was invited for their uniqueness and Sanah Designs are forever evolving,” she said.

“Sanah Designs showcased at the Tshwane Fashion Week numerous times and each time, designs are well-thought and daring.”

Kljajic said the aim of the festival was to promote African designers across Africa.

“The two-day annual event will pave way for the designers to introduce their fashion label to the whole of Africa and encourage the promotion of our culture through fashion,” Kljajic said.

“Next year the fashion show will be held in Botswana and maybe in 2018 it will be held in Zimbabwe.”

Rukudzo Chalamba, a model from Zimbabwe, was also selected to participate at the show.

Mpofu said she was happy to be part of the fashion show and will take her two interns to Malawi.

“I will go with my two interns that I am training on how to come up with a collection and how to work in the fashion industry,” she said.

“I am doing this to discover new talent and also give back to the community. My interns are under Sanah Designs and we do everything together. These interns are Nyasha Chamburuka and Loveness Hute.”
